This stunning 19th century antique Damchiya (Dowry Chest) is a piece of Indian history, handcrafted from solid teak wood and detailed with intricate carving. With its large interior, this historic chest can be used for storage. A timeless, classic piece of furniture.
‘Damchiya’ is what was an Indian bride’s dresser used in earlier times. Most commonly used in Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, these furniture pieces were used as hope
chests to store a bride’s dowry and after the wedding, these were used for storing clothes and other valuables. In modern times like ours, they make for great show stoppers in our hallways
and can also be used as kitchen cabinets, etc.
